Service Description

A pulmonary function test is a noninvasive way to determine how well your lungs work in many different capacities. Spirometry is an essential tool for screening, case-finding, and diagnosis of COPD providing information to shape your rehabilitation plan of care. An occupational therapy technician will guide you through every step of your COPD Lab Test. Why do I need this test? Along with diagnosing COPD, this test can also help track progression of the disease, assist in managing test scores (staging levels) and even help to determine alternative therapies that might be more appropriate or effective for the staging levels. What kind of test do we do? Spirometry – a measure of how much air you can take into and push out of your lungs. This can involve a forceful exhalation until you have blown all the air out of your lungs. The test is used to help determine COPD stage progression levels based on your Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiration Volume per second (FEV1) readings. Can't get to Us? One of our occupational therapists will come to you. Home or office call-out services are only available on Mondays or Fridays (T&C apply). For after hours or Emergency support, reach out on whatsapp (083) 272 9997 or give us a call.
